The Occupational Health and Safety Awareness and Training Regulation (O. Reg. 297/13) requires employers to ensure that workers on construction projects successfully complete a working at heights training program if they may use specified methods of fall protection.  The  “working at heights”  training program must be approved by the Chief Prevention Officer (CPO) within the Ministry of Labour.

Elevation Aerial Design and Consulting offers a Working at Heights training program in partnership with the Infrastructure Health & Safety Association (IHSA) that meets the requirements of of the CPO.  Training can be provided on site at your location or at one of our training facilities, offered in both a private (group) and public training format and can be scheduled according to your specific needs.

The CPO training requirement for working at heights is for workers on construction projects who use any of the following methods of fall protection: travel restraint system, fall restricting systems, fall arrest systems, safety nets and work belts or safety belts.  The IHSA approved training program provides these workers with the basic fall prevention information they require to work safely in areas where they may be exposed to fall hazards.

This comprehensive Working at Heights training program consists of a combination of classroom and skills-based learning activities.  Participants receive the most up-to-date information with hands-on instruction from our professional instructors who are all experienced in working at heights.

As per the requirements of the CPO, the training includes both an in-class and practical training component and requires each participant to successfully complete a written and practical test to receive certification.

For each training session, we ask that all participants arrive 15 minutes prior to the course start time, as instructor cannot admit participants who arrive more than 15 minutes late for the course.   All participants are required to bring green patch work boots, safety glasses and a hard hat for the practical testing component of the course.

Participants are provided with a training manual and receive a certification card immediately upon successful completion of the course.  This IHSA certifcation card satisfies the Ministry of Labour requirement for proof of training.

Certification is valid for 3 years.  Course is 8 hours in length.  Cost is $165+hst per person.

Private group training for the Working at Heights certification is also available, please contact our office for further information on booking your group training at [email protected] or 705-220-3857.
