Employers in Ontario must ensure that workers on construction projects who may use certain methods of fall protection, successfully complete “working at heights” training that meets the new training program and provider standards and that they keep this training up to date.
Elevation Aerial Design and Consulting offers a Working at Heights training program that meets the requirements of employers throughout Ontario. Training can be provided on site at your location or at one of our training facilities, offered in both a private (group) and public training format and can be scheduled according to your specific needs.
The new Ministry of Labour training requirement for working at heights is for workers on construction projects who use any of the following methods of fall protection: travel restraint system, fall restricting systems, fall arrest systems, safety nets and work belts or safety belts. Elevation’s approved training program provides these workers with the basic fall prevention information they require to work safely in areas where they may be exposed to fall hazards.
Our comprehensive Working at Heights training program consists of a combination of classroom and skills-based learning activities. Participants receive the most up-to-date information with hands-on instruction from our professional instructors who are all experienced in working at heights.
As per Ministry of Labour requirements, the training includes both an in-class and practical training component and requires each participant to successfully complete a written and practical test to receive certification.
For each training session, we ask that all participants arrive 15 minutes prior to the course start time, as the Ministry of Labour dictates that the instructor cannot admit participants who arrive more than 15 minutes late for the course. All participants are required to bring green patch work boots, safety glasses and a hard hat for the practical testing component of the course.
Participants are provided with a training manual and receive a temporary certification card immediately upon successful completion of the course. This temporary card satisfies the Ministry of Labour requirement for proof of certification until the participant’s permanent card arrives via mail directly from the Ministry of Labour.
Certification is valid for 3 years. Course is 8 hours in length. Cost is $155+hst per person.
Private group training for the Working at Heights certification is also available, please contact our Training Coordinator Jen Dennis, for further information on booking your group training at firstname.lastname@example.org or 705-220-3857.
